You have two possibilities coming from the highway:

1) A12 Genoa-Rosignano Marittimo, in this case exit Pisa Aereoporto (Centro), and then directly onto the highway SGC Pisa-Florence.

2) A1 Bologna-Florence, in this case, the Firenze Signa exit and then right on the highway SGC Firenze-Pisa-Livorno.

In any case, you leave the highway in Pontedera / Ponsacco.

(Caution, if you come from Florence, it is the second exit for Pontedera!) and follow the signs for Ponsacco, where you arrive after about 4 km. You go through Ponsacco and follow the signs for long-distance Volterra (trucks). You come on your way to La Sterza (20 km distance) through the towns Capannoli Selvatelle La Rosa, where you follow the signs for SALINE DI VOLTERRA. In La Sterza in front of the restaurant DA Pasquino you turn right in direction MIEMO ( be careful, the sign is poorly placed).
